Sparkl Reusable's Breakthrough Success at Earth Day 2024 Across the Bay Area

Sparkl Reusables
This Earth Day 2024, Sparkl Reusables, led by founder Paul Liotsakis, demonstrated how sustainable practices can dramatically reduce waste and costs in city events. Stationed at the Port Workspace in Oakland, Sparkl is pioneering the shift towards reusable and washable food ware, eliminating the need for disposable plates, cups, and utensils that often end up in landfills, burdening both the environment and municipal budgets.

Our VP, Weihaur, who also excels as a business consultant and event coordinator, played a crucial role in orchestrating the success of four simultaneous Earth Day events across Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, and Santa Rosa. By integrating Paul with AATB’s extensive network, Weihaur ensured robust support for this ambitious project.

Key to the project’s visibility was Karen, who spearheaded the graphic design and videography efforts to boost social media engagement and press interactions. Additionally, Hana from USP Store, managed to fast-track the production of branded T-shirts, signage, and tablecloths, delivering them well in time for the events despite the tight 10-day deadline, even offering discounts and prioritized service.

On the ground, community members Joanna and Angelo coordinated the events across the various locations, ensuring everything ran smoothly. Karen also brought along Vickie and Dialoh to Santa Rosa’s celebration, capturing the essence of the day and promoting Sparkl’s vision through vivid photography and video content.
The outcome was remarkable: all four events achieved zero-waste status, producing minimal garbage, which significantly alleviated the cities’ post-event waste management challenges and costs. The residents of these cities expressed deep appreciation for Sparkl’s innovative solutions, hopeful for broader adoption across restaurants and food vendors.

Paul also participated in our AATB mixer, showcasing his products in a practical display that not only served our event but also provided excellent promotional content through photos and videos captured during the day.

We at AATB are immensely proud of this collaboration’s far-reaching impact—not just on a business level but also in fostering sustainable urban practices. This initiative highlights how our connect-support-empower approach can catalyze significant environmental and economic benefits.

Financial Highlights from the Event:

Total Collective Business Revenue: $1,300
Contribution to AATB: $65 (5% of revenue)
Earnings for Event Staff: $580

Sparkl Reusable’s success at the Earth Day 2024 celebrations exemplifies how community-driven initiatives can lead to practical sustainability solutions, setting a precedent for future events and daily practices across the Bay Area and beyond.
